ADR Vest brings the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) closer to the West Region Romania
Oana Penu, European Battery Alliance (EBA) Academy Director from EIT InnoEnergy, one of the main investors in the field of sustainable energy at the level of the European Union, was invited by the representatives of ADR (Agency for Regional Development) Vest to an event that aimed to increase the degree of competitiveness of the region at the European level by leveraging the learning opportunities offered by EBA Academy for the region.
Together with Sorin Maxim, the General Director of ADR Vest, Adrian Mariciuc, the Deputy Director of the agency and Ioana Chira, Consulting & Practice Lead at the consultancy firm Business Saga, Oana Penu made a series of working visits to the headquarters of ADR in Timișoara, then at two important companies from Timișoara (Dräxlmaier Group and Vitesco), as well as the “King Ferdinand I” Energy Technological High School.
“We propose to implement an educational curriculum for training and re-educating the necessary personnel (both in some schools and in some organizations) to accelerate the value chain of batteries in the region. The project is aligned with the objectives of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Romania and EIT InnoEnergy, the organization mandated by the European Commission to accelerate the implementation of this strategic chain at the European level. The proposed actions are agreed at the national level with the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of the Economy”, says Sorin Maxim, director of ADR Vest.
The European Battery Alliance (EBA) Academy – a landmark program designed to train the workforce across the entire European battery value chain – will place a special focus on regions benefiting from the European Just Transition Fund (Dolj, Gorj, Mureș, Hunedoara, Prahova and Galati). In addition, partnerships will be formed with several universities in Romania, including the University of Petroșani, to introduce new bachelor’s and master’s programs for students.
