ElevenEs enters into a JDA with CarbonX to advance LFP battery technology
ElevenEs, a European LFP lithium-ion battery manufacturer, has signed a Joint Development Agreement with CarbonX, a Netherlands-based innovator in advanced anode materials. This collaboration aims to explore potential performance improvements for LFP battery technology, contributing to the ongoing development of the European battery supply chain.
Exploring enhancements in LFP battery technology
ElevenEs is working to support innovation by assessing and validating novel materials from European startups. This partnership with CarbonX focuses on evaluating an advanced carbon-based material designed to improve graphite anodes. By incorporating CarbonX’s technology into prismatic LFP blade-type cells, the companies aim to benchmark its effectiveness and assess its potential for broader application.
“This collaboration with CarbonX represents a step toward strengthening the European battery value chain,” said Nemanja Mikać, CEO of ElevenEs. “With our manufacturing expertise, we will support the validation of new materials that could contribute to the European energy transition.”
Rutger van Raalten, CEO of CarbonX, added: “By combining CarbonX’s advanced anode materials with ElevenEs’ LFP technology, we are working toward improvements in battery performance, lifespan, and safety. This partnership reflects a shared commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions in Europe.”
Contributing to a more sustainable European supply chain
While this agreement is a positive development for the European battery industry, its impact will be incremental. CarbonX’s expertise in carbon black production and ElevenEs’ LFP cell manufacturing offer potential benefits, but the broader European battery ecosystem will require further advancements and investments to achieve long-term competitiveness.
As ElevenEs continues to expand its manufacturing footprint—from its R&D center and pilot facility toward a Gigafactory—this partnership represents a small but meaningful step in Europe’s journey toward improving its battery supply chain and fostering innovation.
