Finally catching up: What powers the EV uptake in Germany?
The largest car market in Europe is now also the largest BEV / PHEV market.
According to the International Council on Clean Transportation, German EV market is now the largest market in Europe for BEV/PHEV in absolute numbers with 86 000+ cars registered between January to October 2019. In relative numbers, Germany catches up with France and the UK with a share of new electric cars estimated at 2.8% over the past 12 months. Even though still moderate for now, it is expected to increase considerably due to the incentives introduced.
